Haleakalā Crater:  While hiking on Halemau’u Trail in Haleakala Crater I stopped to paint this beautiful ‘ama’u fern.  As I painted, Lilinoe joined in. Lilinoe, the fine mist of Maui’s ridges, Lilinoe, the goddess of mists–she wanted to paint too. Each droplet on the paper changed how the pigments flowed. My strokes turned into washes. Colors melded. And then, Lilinoe moved on. The paper dried, and I added the remaining careful details. I can’t think of a more perfect collaboration.

This original painting is 11x14in and will be floated on a white matboard, suitable for framing.
